THE FEAST

In collaboration with the legendary Martha Graham Dance Company, The Feast was an immersive baroque banquet and ritualistic dance performance presented by Long Beach Opera. The piece reimagined rarely heard arias by Handel—including selections from Alessandro—into a sensual, multi-sensory pastiche that fused music, movement, food, and myth.

The evening unfolded across activated performance spaces, where audiences were guided through a world of live music, gourmet courses, and hauntingly beautiful choreography rooted in Greek ritual. The event marked the Southern California debut of Polish countertenor Jakub Józef OrliÅ„ski, who both sang and danced alongside the Graham Company in a first-time collaboration.

Co-produced with the Henry T. & Elizabeth Segerstrom Foundation, The Feast offered a radical rethinking of opera and performance, transforming a meal into a transcendent journey through time, body, and sound.
